"I can write a book about the duffel bag. Its history starts a long time ago and it has always been used by brave men, who were ready to travel thousands of miles, with their lives packed in a duffel bag." -

Not many people know that Duffel is a city in Belgium, and it is where this cloth was originally made. It's very close to my home, but unfortunately there are not so many factories left to produce the famous duffel canvas. The fabric I use to make my bags is from an old British factory, which has been producing this waxed cotton for over 100 years.
It is a large bag and you can put many things inside it. My source of inspiration was the original US Military Duffel bag, from which I kept the structure and I reinforced the bottom, the handler and the strap with the “Crazy Horse” leather. The result is outstanding!
The shades it gets over time make the waxed canvas a special fabric. And because of that, the "Crazy Horse" leather is the high class partner it deserves to have.
Both the waxed canvas and the "Crazy Horse" leather evolve and get better over time. Every scratch is recorded; the marks and shades will remind you of all the journeys you took to discover the world and to discover yourself. I see these two materials like a photographic film that captures the present for the future.
To preserve the character of the fabrics and to make them last longer, I waterproofed the leather and the lining. Together with the waxed canvas, they make an amazing tote bag, ready for a long walk on a rainy day. - Bogdan, Tram 21

Tram 21 makes sure that each bag is fairly made and of the highest quality. The tannery is set in Alcanena, Portugal - an area with a rich tannery tradition. Tram 21 works with a family that has been perfecting the art of tanning for five generations. They analyze each piece of leather, striving to achieve the highest quality to ensure that the leather they produce for your bags is outstanding.
The waxed cotton used comes from the UK and has a long history, starting in the mid-19th century, when it was first introduced to the sailing industry due to its waterproofing quality. We love the scratches and shades it gains over time. The UK factory is more than 100 years old and its history overlaps with the tale of the waxed canvas.
Every year, we select a charitable organization we can provide a portion of our proceeds. Check our INSIDE OUR #JETSETFORGOOD CAMPAIGN page for details on which non-profit we decided to work with this year.

Based in Brussels, Tram 21 is an enthusiastic team of three, creating bags that will travel with you for many years, silently witnessing your journeys. The team is fascinated by objects that travel through time, things that somebody will find after many years at the back of a closet and wonder: How old is this bag? How many travels did it go on? How many more can it take with me?
