For 13 exhilarating days ride along the world's most famous tracks On The Dakar Rally Tracks Motorcycle Tour - Salta, Argentina. Join a group of riders or gather your closest friends to explore more than 1,400 miles of exclusive roads and dirt tracks in Argentina's beautiful north west region. Whether you're traveling alone or in a group, all experience levels from novice to expert are welcome. You'll enjoy a unique riding experience on the timeless classic Royal Enfield EFI 500, traveling along tracks of this exclusive and mythical rally race, situated at the very heart of the Andes Mountains.

Highlights: Abra del Acay, Las Flechas, Dakar Special, the Landmine Trail, Cafayate's vineyards, several ancestral villages along the way. Tour duration: 13 days/13 nights (12 riding days). Total riding distance: 2,200 kilometers (1,367 miles). Depart from Salta; arrive at Salta. Average duration of riding per day: six-seven hours. Best season: February to November. Riders: four to 10 Persons. Price: Groups of seven or eight: $4,900/per person; Groups of six persons: $5,300/per person; Groups of four or five: $5,800/per person. 38% deposit required for all tours, remaining 62% of payment paid on location upon arrival at Salta. Day 1: ARRIVAL AT SALTA

Upon arrival in Salta, you will be welcomed at the airport according to your flight schedule and taken to your airport via private transfer. Your guide will provide a short briefing about your journey and introduce you to the Royal Enfield 500. You will enjoy a relaxing evening in Salta and indulge in local specialities. Your accommodation consists of a spacious colonial-style bedroom, in a quiet and central place in downtown Salta.

Day 2: SALTA - TAFI DEL VALLE (Distance: 310km with 30km off-road)

No doubt this amazing road will whet your appetite! After a detour through La Garganta del diablo and the amphitheater, the mirador of Tres Cruces and its view of La Quebrada will no doubt leave you speechless - simply magical! At Cafayate, you'll reach the famous Road 40, and make a stop at Amaicha del Valle before ascending the "Abra del Infiernillo" culminating at 3,000 meters above sea level. By sunset, end the day in Taffi del Valle, in an authentic estancia, a charming place to rest.

Day 3: TAFI DEL VALLE - ANDALGALA (Distance: 210km with 130km off-road)

In the morning leave this cute little village to ride through the forest of "Campo de los Alisos" National Park. This exquisite road, perfectly asphalted we'll leave you daydreaming. The windy "Quebrada de las Sosas" will be a challenging ride through dense forest, but at the end you'll arrive at the highest plateau of the Tucuman region. After one hour riding agricultural zones, connect with an off-road track to begin the sporty ascension of "Los Alios." Comfortable hotel and spacious room will wait you.

Day 4: ANDALGA - CAFAYATE (Distance: 200km with 140km off-road)

Head North towards Cafayate and to the town of Chaquiago, known for its fruit spreads. However, the track is steep so taking it nice and slow will be key. On the way, visit Mines Capillitas and discover Inca's Rose, a sublime red stone, which is considered a treasure of the region. Hit the road again and ride through the world renowned vineyards of the country. In Cafayate, you will be rewarded with a stunning estancia, a lovely view on the vineyards, and a swimming pool.

Day 5: RELAX AND CHILL OUT IN CAFAYATE

Built against buttresses of the Andes mountain range, Cafayate is known as a paradise where the sun and good wine prevail. This charming village with its colonial allure, situated at the heart of 12,000 hectares of vineyards, is ideal for those interested in discovering the best grape varieties in the region. It's possible to organize a bodega visit or a horse riding excursion at your convenience, just let us know!

Day 6: CAFAYATE - CACHI (Distance: 160km with 140km off-road)

Wake up to dusty gravel and sandy tracks as the ride to famous Road 40 (la Ruta 40) feature landscapes of an absolute tranquillity and pure beauty that needs to be experienced. After 50km, along which a few isolated villages are located, the path narrows before arrival at Las Flechas, which features impressive rocky layers and sharp vertical peaks! The road weaves through the villages of Angastaco and Molinos. The night will be spent in a boutique-hotel, at the heart of the adorable town of Cachi.

Day 7: CACHI - S. ANTONIO DE LOS COBRES (Distance: 150km off-road)

Your mission, should you decide to accept it: Abra del Acay! As the highest road in either North or South America, situated at an altitude of 4,900m, it will surely defy expectations and perhaps your trusty "iron beast." Large tracks will take you to the peak, only to discover an astonishing panorama. On the way down, the road narrows and requires full attention when arriving at San Antonio de los Cobres. A warm welcome from the landlord and a homemade dinner will precede a peaceful night, indeed.

Day 8: SAN ANTONIO - PURMAMARCA (Distance: 310km with 140km off-road)

Early in the morning take Road 40, which runs along the Chilean border. Start with a challenging track made of sand, screes and riverbeds. Once upon higher ground, the road gets even better, as vicunas strut around the bushes. In the afternoon, discover a natural beauty: the impressive salt desert of the Salinas Grandes. Hurdle down the Cuesta de Lipan with its perfect 35kms of curves, before arriving in pretty Tilcara town. Once again, a charming and comfortable hotel will be base camp for the night.

Day 9: RELAX AND CHILL OUT AT PURMAMARCA

Located in-between the Andean mountain range at 2,460m high, Purmamarca deserves some time to explore its lovely lime-washed stone houses and atmosphere full of Andean traditions. Take a walk around as locals enjoy the peaceful lifestyle. In the afternoon, feel free to switch the Royal Enfield for a horse and a ride to the middle of the countryside.

Day 10: PURMAMARCA - IRUYA (Distance: 150km with 55km off-road)

In the morning, explore the village and culture of the local Quebrada de Humahuaca, then ride towards Tilcara to see Pucara fortress, a pre-inca village built 1,000 years ago. Ride north for a well-deserved break at Humahuaca, before branching off the path leading to Iruya. To reach this place, the Royal Enfield will have to rumble beyond a 4,000m pass. A long slope will bring us down to a stunning canyon, which shelters the beautiful Iruya town. Rooms with spectacular panoramic view of the canyon below will nourish your dreams.

Day 11: IRUYA - LA QUIACA (Distance: 195km with 110km off-road)

Ride back via a different track to exit the canyon. Once the asphalt road below is reached, ride to "Abra Pampa," which is a small town known locally as the "Argentinian Siberia." Here, situated high on the Altiplano highlands, you'll encounter herds of vicunas, llamas and guanacos. A long off-road ride on a technical but gorgeous track brings us to Yavi, a village that feels like time has stopped. Finally, ride onwards to La Quiaca, the last Argentinean town at the Bolivian border. Spend the night at a nice hostel, a warm welcome from the landlords and delicious local cuisine specially prepared for our arrival.

Day 12: LA QUIACA - TILCARA (Distance: 280km with 130km off-road)

This stage of the tour invites us to ride along the edge of the orth-west Argentinean territory through beautiful hard-sandy tracks to reach Angosto's canyon. Cross over the northern pampa to discover the legendary "Laguna de Pozuelos," where more than 40 species of bird come to breed, including the famous flamingos. Riding along national Road 9 will lead us down to the Quebrada de Huamahuaca and the town of Tilcara. Spend the night at a beautiful hotel, spacious room with terrace and view of the Quebrada before you.

Day 13: TILCARA - SALTA (Distance: 190km on asphalt road)

The final stage of the tour heads back to Salta riding through the Quebrada de Humahuaca mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2003. This beautiful mountain range offers a great variety of minerals and colors, and it's simply amazing to marvel at in person. To cap it off, La Cornisa, a beautiful asphalted road on the hillside, with tight corners and beautiful curves will bring us home in Salta. Arriving at Salta in the mid-afternoon, you will have time to wander and stroll around the 9 de Julio square. Leave the next day from Salta back home. A private transfer will be provided from your hotel to the airport.

Price

For groups of seven or eight: $4,900/per person; Groups of six persons: $5,300/per person; Groups of four or five: $5,800/per person. If you would like to form a group of less than four persons or more than eight persons, please contact us at contact@jetsettimes.com to receive a quote. Additional cost to book single room: USD$450. Additional cost to book additional night in Salta: USD$100. Additional cost to rent a 4WD vehicle (12 days): USD$3,180.

In order to ensure placement of tour, a 38% deposit is required and must be transferred by bank transfer upon receipt of invoice by Jetset Times for tour. Remaining 62% balance of tour price to be paid in cash (USD) on location upon arrival at Salta. Cash is the preferred payment for remaining amount due. However, you may also pay the remaining amount via bank transfer (6% additional fee associated with bank transfer).

A security deposit of USD$1,000 is required per person on tour, and will be requested at the beginning of the tour. Security deposit will be returned to the customer at the end of the tour if no damages have been made to the motorcycle. If you are responsible for any damage, the necessary fixing cost will be deducted from your deposit.

Cancelation/Refund

In case of cancelation made more than 60 (sixty) days before the date of commencement of the tour, the entire deposit will be refunded minus deduction of USD$250 application fee. In case of cancelation made more than 30 (thirty) days before the date of commencement of travel, 50% deposit will be refunded minus deduction of USD$250 application fee. In case of cancelation made less than 30 (thirty) days before the start date of the trip, no refund will be allowed of the deposit in compensation of expenses incurred, and excludes the possibility of seeking additional damages, if necessary. No trip interruption or termination of tour by the customer for any reason whatsoever shall not be subject to refund and/or compensation.

Flights

Upon your arrival at Salta airport, a chauffeur will await you at the designated gate to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. At the end of the tour, a chauffeur will transfer you back to the airport for your departing flight.

Visa

Depending on your nationality, it is up to you to check and meet the visa requirements.

Insurance

All persons on tour are required to have medical insurance prior to start of tour. Must provide proof of insurance in order to complete booking process.

Vaccine

No vaccine mandatory for Argentina.

International Driving License A

You must hold a valid motorcycling International driving license A category.

Experience Level

All experience levels are welcome, from novice to expert.

Weather

March to November: Dry season. Temperatures are nice in the plains but cooler at altitude (20/28C daytime and 10/15C nighttime).

Money

Local currency is in pesos. It's advised to bring cash for your daily expenses and souvenirs. It is completely safe to carry cash on your person in Argentina, especially if you're paying the remaining balance of the tour price in cash, which is the best option to avoid the 6% additional fee associated with bank transfer.
