Committed to producing the highest quality leather goods, What Daisy Did has partnered with local artisans from India to create eco-friendly leather bags made to last. Named after native UK trees to celebrate their partnership with The Woodland Trust, The Forest Collection is a unique series of handmade leather handbags, backpacks, messenger bags, satchels, laptop bags and more, using only certified eco-friendly practices and made from locally sourced materials. All bags use leather from community-farmed goats, where each hide is naturally tanned under the desert sun using vegetable oils, and never with chemical tanners, which can harm local water supplies. All leftover scraps of leather are sold to a local jeweler to minimize waste.

Manufactured by a local community of sixty families (30 women and 57 men) in the western deserts of India, tailors are paid a fair living wage, work from home and have complete control over their work schedule. This means families can set their own deadlines, which allows them to focus on important commitments, such as university or parenting. No child, elderly or forced labor is ever used in the making of these products.

"Our names are Daisy and Ozric. We have five years of experience working in various sustainability focused projects. This has opened our eyes to the reality of humanities disposable lifestyle and led us to create a fashion brand whose products were beautiful, functional, affordable and tackle waste from every angle. The ways we achieve this is by using natural and waste materials to create our bags in timeless styles that will outlive the micro trends and seasons. The bags are hard wearing and made to last, keeping them out of landfill for as long as possible.

We currently operate in India and the UK, with a combined work force of over 100 artisans. We are a member of www.bafts.org.uk - The British Association of Fairtrade Shops and Suppliers and we are partnered with The Woodland Trust to offset our carbon footprint. We are working with the Hope Centre our local homeless charity, to offer employment to disadvantaged people in the UK,

We are strong advocates of slow fashion, a term which describes our battle against reckless consumerism in the fashion industry (fast fashion). It encouraging consumers to slow down and make more conscious decisions by asking a few simple questions.  Our ethos is complete transparency, and on each of our product pages we endeavor to answer any questions you may have."
